Rape Myths
Despite the prevalence of sexual assault in the United States, a number of misconceptions surround this crime and its victims. Some of the most common myths include:
1. Rape is a crime of passion.
The notion that the rapist is controlled by overwhelming lust is far removed from the reality. Psychologists have found that the motivation behind sexual assault is most often the need to dominate and control, rather than the inability to control sexual urges. Rape is primarily an act of power and aggression, with the sexual aspects taking secondary role.

Inner Healing
The subject of inner healing requires much attention today, as there are so many women who are struggling with issues surrounding emotional insecurity. Insecurities brought on by trauma of past emotional wounds which have left them vulnerable and in many cases afraid to trust others. It is therefore wonderful to know that Jesus also died for the purpose of providing us with inner healing according to Isaiah 61:3, which says it is “To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified.” Having the understanding that inner healing is accessible through Jesus Christ, we must then turn our attention to exploring the process through which this is achieved. What is forgiveness?

The Need for Forgiveness
In the Lord’s Prayer there are three personal requests that are made to the Father:
- For provision for daily needs
- For forgiveness
- Deliverance from temptation and the evil one
The only thing that was expounded on was the issue of forgiveness, for God says, “If you do not forgive, I will not forgive” This is a problem because if we are not forgiven, in that we are left to walk around with our sins, then our prayers remain unanswered because God will not hear them.
